Models and learning activities to promote active on-line learning
Four Instructional Models
At UST, we find faculty adopt different degrees of integrating traditional teaching mode with on-line learning and teaching in their courses. As a result, we have identified four types of instructional models that are progressive in nature i.e. the higher the model, the more elements of OLT are applied in the learning experience.

Learning Activities to Promote Active Learning
In order to engage and empower students in their on-line learning, we have collaboratively developed various interactive web-enabled learning activities with faculty for the following course components:
Live lectures and lecture notes could be captured as interactive self-paced learning contents with additional media components such as, lecturer's narration, audio and visual examples, video display, animation, etc.
Demonstrations of abstract and complex concepts or procedures could be simplified with interactive self-paced learning objects such as animated simulation, narrated procedures, random accessible video taped demonstrations, etc.
Assessment in an interactive on-line environment presents opportunities such as automated practice and drills, self assessments with customized feedback, self explorations with drag and drop, etc.
