CELT
works in partnership with faculty members and teaching staff in
pursuing their teaching goals and in creating a quality learning
experience for their students. To this end we support a wide range
of activities and services including:
- An
e-Orientation
for new faculty on teaching at HKUST - if you are a faculty
or a teaching staff member coming to, or have just arrived, at
HKUST, then this should be your first stop for teaching related
matters;
-
Consultations - covering areas such
as instructional development, course management system (WebCT,
Lotus Learning Space), course evaluation, development of teaching
tools, classroom research, construction of a teaching portfolio,
self-assessment of teaching and peer-assisted learning;
- Teaching
Development Grant (TDG) Projects - CELT actively collaborates
with faculty in teaching development projects funded either though
the University Grants Council or institutionally;
- Seminars
and Workshops - on issues related to approaches to facilitating
active learning within HKUST's context with discussions extended
through our virtual MeetingSpace;
- A
biennial Teaching
and Learning Symposium - jointly organized by HKUST's Committee
on Teaching and Learning Quality and CELT;
- A
Teaching
and Learning Knowledge-Base being built up from the outcomes
of HKUST-based teaching initiatives, as well as local and international,
on-line and off-line, instructional development resources;
- IDEAS
portal - an integrated series of web sites covering a range
of active learning approaches to instruction;
- Technology-Based
Teaching and Learning Tools - a
variety of teaching tools to support teaching and learning at
UST (e.g. Personal
Response System which enables instructors to receive and analyze
immediate feedback from students in a classroom setting);
- Evaluation
of Teaching - through self-assessment (personal development
planning, videotaping teaching, teaching portfolio) and through
student-assessment before, during and at the end of course teaching,
utilizing online systems developed by CELT.
- An
electronic newsletter called eCELT.
