Research Postgraduates

Postgraduates studying in HKUST are required to engage in ancillary duties related to both teaching and research. In order to facilitate their teaching and learning skills, CELT delivers trainings and provides teaching/learning services to support them.

Induction Training and Support Programs for RPGs

  1. Teaching Assistant (TA) Training Program

At UST, Teaching Assistants (TAs) have an important role to play in the overall teaching effort. Their duties vary across departments and they all demand considerable skills and knowledge. To assist new TAs in taking up their work and duties effectively and efficiently, CELT provides regular induction training to new TAs in the Fall and Spring semesters.

  2. Professional Development Workshops for RPGs

Other than serving TAs, CELT also provides various supports to RPGs. A series of workshops are offered in related to their research and career which aim to enhance their research ability and lifelong employability. CELT will continue to provide further workshops and trainings for RPGs to develop and improve their leadership, communication, mentoring, coaching and learning skills etc.

RPG Teaching and Learning Resources

CELT provides RPGs with extensive resources. For easy referencing the resourceful information, they are now available at the RPG Teaching and Learning Resources page. Practical guides in LMES, teaching and learning videos, TA handbook and FAQ are easily accessible by RPGs.

Serving RPGs - TA Coordinator Committee (TACC)

The TA Coordinator Committee is a team of 19 experienced TAs working at different departments to work closely with CELT in supporting their fellow RPGs in exercising their assigned duties. The most important role of the TACs is to work as a "bridge" between RPGs in both departmental and institutional level.

CELT plays an essential role in coordinating and supporting these TA Coordinators in their work through the TA Coordinator Committee, which meets regularly to plan their work, exchange ideas, share resources and provide mutual support. In order to understand the needs and give support to RPGs, every year TA Coordinators conduct various events for their RPGs.
