Technology-enhanced Teaching & Learning
Using technology to enhance the quality of teaching and learning has always been one of CELT’s key goals. CELT has established an enterprise-level Learning Management platform and a number of innovative eLearning tools to enhance teaching and the student learning experience at HKUST.
To ensure the platform and the eLearning tools are implemented effectively, CELT provides regular eLearning workshops to help teaching staff become familiar with these tools, understand the pedagogical value behind them and be able to use them effectively in your teaching activities.
CELT also constantly monitors the development of teaching technologies in the market and recommends other innovative tools which we see a pedagogical value in it. The recommendations will come in the form of a theme-based Tech Camp series.

LMES is a comprehensive Learning Management System with functionalities similar to Moodle and BlackBoard. It is based on the academic open-source system Sakai and specially customized for HKUST’s own needs. It was introduced to the University since 2005. Currently there are over 1,500 courses using LMES in an academic year. |

Turnitin |
Turnitin is an originality checking and plagiarism prevention software that is globally used by millions of students and faculty. Beyond checking the originality of students' work, Turnitin is promoting a writing cycle that makes anti-plagiarism more meaningful to students’ learning. The cycle includes originality checking, online grading and providing feedback and peer review. HKUST has subscribed to its service so as to prevent/minimize plagiarism issue within HKUST. |

HKUST Survey Tool |
HKUST Survey Tool is a user-friendly online survey system made available to all faulty and teaching staff at HKUST. With the tool, you can collect survey data from your target groups at your finger tips. Reports can also be generated easily. |

Personal Response System (PRS) |
PRS is a tool used to promote active learning. It enables instructors to receive and analyze instant feedback from students in a large classroom setting. Students in a classroom or a lecture theatre can respond to questions posed by the instructor with the click of a button. This provides a means for the instructor to instantly assess students' understanding of the subject matter and collect instant feedback from all students. The new PRS has been setup in all the central managed lecture theaters and classrooms. |
