Canvas Assignments is a Canvas feature that includes online submissions of student artifacts and integration of external tools to engage students asynchronously. This feature enables instructors to evaluate students’ level of performance toward intended learning outcomes.
This tool supports explorative and evaluative learning styles where students can reflect on questions, search for information to solve problems, and process information. This feature is available on the Canvas course site.
Functionality
  • Submission options include text, website URL, media recordings, or other file types
  • Submission attempts can be set to a specific number or unlimited
  • Allows peer review, manually or randomly assigned to students
  • Peer reviews can be set to anonymous
  • Grading options can be points, letter grades, percentages, etc.
Usage
For instruction: Create reading and reflection assignments as pre-work activities for students before coming to the class.
For instruction: Set up online submissions for graded course requirements such as reports, presentations, case studies, etc.
For online activities: Create learning activities using external tools or LTI apps within Canvas LMS.
For online activities: Create assignments for assigned or anonymous peer reviews.
